Let me cut straight to the meat of things.  What I'm about to share with you will enrage leaders in the network marketing industry. That's ok. I want to show you how to grow a massive organization.
I'm about to spoil the fun for a lot of industry leaders because quite simply, I'm fed up with them spreading misleading statements and half-truths all over the place.
What Leaders Are Telling You To Do
Do any of these ancient techniques sound familiar?
1. Make a list of your friends and family
2. 3-way call to your upline. They'll close the deal for you (really they're saying that you suck so let them do the closing).
3. Hand out fliers, audios, DVD's, etc
4. Hand out samples like it was Christmas all year round - the more you give out the more distributors you'll sign up.
5. Driving all over town buying people meals - hoping they'll sign up into your business.
To make it big in this industry one needs to understand a few of key components.  Like, how do you get prospects approaching you? How do you effectively position yourself so others are approaching you with credit card in hand ready to sign up for your products, services and your opportunity? Having others approach you - ready to sign up is the key to growing a huge downline.

One must understand the basics.  Network marketing is a way for your company to distribute their products and services. Instead of putting up retail stores and bringing in a bunch of investors or generating capital they bring in bodies to move their products.
That's where you and I come in. That being said, think about those techniques. I didn't mention all the 'practices' because I don't wanna put you to sleep. Do those things really make sense? If they made so much sense why don't Fortune 500 Companies bug their friends and family?
Are The Leaders Using Those Same Techniques?
Bluntly put, NO! Don't think they are even for a second. When's the last time you saw any major player in this industry (someone making more than 100K/month) using those principles to grow their business?
They know better than that. They're up on stage doing their presentations - or if they're really smart, they're using conference calls to deliver their message.  Company leaders are fuming that I'm sharing their 'coveted' secrets, but that's ok. I'm here to help you. Leaders are positioning themselves. This is one technique that you must learn to master - I'll show you exactly how to do this shortly.
By positioning themselves, they're now having prospects approach them. Not the other way around.  Most leaders are just using you as their guinea pig. Don't get upset yet. It can be a win-win situation. Look at this from the outside looking in for a moment. They tell you (and even train you) on how to go out there and prospect, to generate business. 
They train you on all sorts of goofey techniques, but they know what they teach must be simple and easy for everyone to follow. It must be something that's 'teachable' to the masses.
They understand the numbers. They know that statistically, you'll go out there and bring in 2.3 reps (industry average).  Ultimately, they're training you on how to grow their business. Yep. You need to understand the numbers too - if you're serious about growing a massive organization.
I could go on and on about how companies have their 'poster child' that's making 7 figures a year, but actually does nothing or next to nothing for their income - when in all actuality, it's one of the 'big wigs' brother, niece, nephew, uncle - whatever. 
This Is Very Much An 'Insider's Game'
I could talk about how companies who have preferred vendors (the companies that make your business cards, brochures, DVD's, etc) that are actually owned by an uncle, nephew, brother, etc. You get my drift. Yes, this is very much an 'insider's game'.
Those we are 'in the know' make it big - those that don't...well typically, they become another statistic.
Everyone 'in the know' in this industry has each other in their back pocket - in one way or another.  Now, I'm turning the tide so you can understand how the game is really played.
